Since this is the Fourth Doctor version of the story, it made sense to me to have him take the lead in answering Rassilon instead of the First Doctor as in the original. Having the Hurndall Doctor work out what the old proverb meant always struck me as nonsense, since he’s the youngest and least experienced of all of them. To my mind, if anyone should have worked it out, it should have been the Fifth Doctor.
In the Fan Edit version of this story, I included the Obligatory JNT Flashback Sequence at this point but how do you do that in a comic strip version? Like this! I tried to include as many iconic images as I could as each of Peter’s predecessors reminds him of his past when he was them. We start with his escape from Gallifrey and carry on all the way up to Nightmare of Eden, since, in this version, that was Tom’s last adventure before this one.
PANEL 6: Why they didn’t have a moment like this on telly after Hurndall says “concentrate, we must be one!” I don’t know. Given how out of his way JNT went to be a fan-pleaser its a strange ommission. And so I’ve included it in this version, for consistency’s sake.
No prizes for guessing what comes next!
