Never mind all the sadness of Capaldi’s impending regeneration, or the anticipation of the return of the Mondas Cybermen, following The Moff’s warning at the recent screening of The Pilot, fandom was scratching it’s collective head as to what the Mega Spoiler at the end of episode one was going to be…
Was it going to be a cameo of River and Eleven at the frost fair in episode three?
Was it Jenny, the Doctor’s Daughter?
Was it Susan, the Doctor’s Granddaughter?
Was it Polly, turning up to help defeat the Mondas Cybs in the finale?
So what could this mega-spoiler possibly be?
Well, it was this:
I bet nobody saw that one coming, I certainly didn’t!
Can’t wait to see how Simm and Gomez are going to get on together…
Exciting as the news is, Whopix can’t help thinking that perhaps two incarnations of the Master and the Mondas Cybermen in the series finale is maybe a bit much? Having Simm and Gomez on screen together would make a two-part finale on its own, and the idea of having two incarnations of the Master meeting each other has been done before…
And if the BBC Publicity Dept hadn’t stuck Simm in the trailer, I wonder how much longer they would have managed to keep his inclusion under wraps? We haven’t had a real surprise reveal since Derek Jacobi told us who he really was in Utopia…
Despite being comprehensively spoiled by the Press, fandom can at least hold its collective breath for the next eleven weeks until in antici…pation of Simm’s return to the show, and wonder just how the Simm incarnation of the Master is going to get along with the Gomez incarnation of the Master…
…as well as wondering just how two Masters are tied up with whatever the Mondas Cybermen are up to. Still, not long to wait and now we know the last two episode titles…!
